Settlement Benefits to be Mailed to Claimants by November 22, 2013
The last of four appeals by attorneys for objecting class members was dismissed by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals on September 20, 2013. This made final the stipulation approved by the Order on Final Approval of Class Action Settlement, Attorney’s Fees, Costs, and Incentive Awards; Judgment and Dismissal entered by the United States District Court for the Southern District of California on November 5, 2012. Under the now final settlement, those renters who asserted claims prior to the January 2013, deadline for submitting claims will receive either $2.00 per day (with a minimum payment of $5.00) or a voucher or vouchers redeemable for one or two free days', time and mileage, whichever they previously chose. It is currently anticipated that vouchers and checks will be mailed to claimants by November 22, 2013.
